The hourly rate/salary is based on cost of living within the assigned territory as well as previous experience, certifications, leadership background, and project management experience.

Position Summary

The Asbestos Abatement Project Manager oversees residential, commercial, and industrial environmental remediation projects involving asbestos abatement, hazardous material removal, demolition, containment setup, and related environmental services.

This role is responsible for leading technicians and crews, managing customer relationships, coordinating job schedules, overseeing project profitability, maintaining regulatory compliance, ensuring quality workmanship, and delivering exceptional customer experiences throughout all phases of remediation projects.

This is not a desk-only management role. The ideal candidate is comfortable leading projects while actively supporting crews in the field when needed and maintaining strong relationships with customers, subcontractors, consultants, industrial hygienists, and business partners.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day asbestos abatement and environmental remediation operations throughout assigned territory
  • Lead and supervise asbestos abatement technicians and field crews including training, mentorship, development, scheduling, and performance management
  • Create high levels of customer satisfaction through professional communication, responsiveness, and project execution
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships, client partnerships, subcontractor relationships, and referral networks
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers throughout project lifecycles
  • Inspect job sites to identify asbestos-containing materials and assess project scope, safety concerns, and operational needs
  • Develop remediation plans, project schedules, manpower plans, and operational timelines
  • Execute timely, accurate, and profitable project estimates and job scopes
  • Write, review, and audit estimates, budgets, and project documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Coordinate containment setup, decontamination zones, negative air systems, demolition, hazardous material handling, and disposal operations
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, federal, state, and local regulations related to hazardous material handling and environmental remediation
  • Monitor project progress, job profitability, schedules, quality standards, and operational performance
  • Conduct frequent job site inspections to ensure safety compliance, workmanship quality, cleanliness, and project accuracy
  • Identify safety hazards and establish measures to ensure the safety of occupants, technicians, and job sites
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including daily logs, safety reports, compliance paperwork, disposal records, notes, and operational reports
  • Coordinate with industrial hygienists, consultants, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams throughout project completion
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and development of environmental services team members
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, remediation equipment, and operational readiness
  • Participate in ongoing industry training, certification renewals, and medical monitoring programs
  • Support emergency response operations and assist with related environmental remediation services when needed
  • Travel throughout state with potential overnight stays when required
  • Perform additional operational duties and leadership responsibilities as assigned

Requirements & Skills

  • Strong asbestos abatement and environmental remediation experience required
  • Previous project management, operations management, or crew leadership experience required
  • State or federal asbestos certification/licensing preferred
  • Strong understanding of OSHA, EPA, federal, state, and local environmental regulations required
  • Experience with estimating, project scheduling, customer management, and operational oversight preferred
  • Strong customer service and client relationship management abilities
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, crews, and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong understanding of PPE usage, respirator safety, containment systems, and hazardous material handling procedures
  • Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, industrial remediation equipment, and demolition practices
  • Comfortable leading teams while remaining hands-on in the field when needed
  • Positive attitude with strong work ethic and leadership mentality
  • Empathy, professionalism, and commitment to safety and quality workmanship
  • Strong computer skills including operational systems, spreadsheets, documentation, and reporting platforms
  • Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a drug test, extensive background screening, and required medical clearances for respirator usage
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Comfortable standing, walking, climbing, bending, working at elevated heights, and working in confined spaces such as crawlspaces and attics while wearing PPE and respirators
  • Comfortable working around demolition debris, hazardous materials, and varying environmental conditions
  • Available for full-time work including overtime, on-call rotations, and statewide travel as business demands require

Preferred Additional Qualifications

  • First Aid and CPR Certification
  • Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish)
  • Experience with mold remediation, demolition, or restoration services
  • Experience managing industrial, commercial, or large-loss environmental projects
  • Knowledge of environmental compliance documentation and reporting standards
