Duties & Responsibilities:
The Asbestos Abatement Technician is responsible for the safe identification, handling, containment, removal, encapsulation, and disposal of asbestos-containing materials in residential, commercial, and industrial environments. This role may also assist with remediation of other environmental hazards such as mold and lead when required.
Technicians must strictly adhere to company policies as well as OSHA, EPA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Work is performed both independently and as part of a team to complete projects efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of safety, compliance, and professionalism.
- Inspect job sites to identify and assess asbestos and other hazardous materials.
- Prepare containment areas, negative air systems, and decontamination zones to prevent cross-contamination.
- Safely remove, encapsulate, transport, and dispose of asbestos-containing materials using approved techniques.
- Follow all OSHA, EPA, and local regulations related to hazardous material handling.
- Wear, maintain, and properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators.
- Conduct or assist with air monitoring and clearance testing as required.
- Decontaminate work areas, tools, and equipment after project completion.
- Maintain accurate daily logs, safety reports, and compliance documentation.
- Communicate project progress, safety concerns, and material needs to supervisors and team members.
- Assist with equipment setup, material pickups, site cleanup, and inventory control.
- Maintain company vehicles, tools, and assigned equipment.
- Participate in ongoing industry training, certification renewals, and medical monitoring programs.
- Educate clients or occupants on safety measures when appropriate.
Requirements & Skills :
- Not afraid to roll up your sleeves & get dirty
- Empathy, Friendly, and a positive can-do attitude
- Eagerness to learn and grow within the Restoration Industry
- Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Ability to lift/move up to 100 pounds
- Comfortable with walking/standing for long periods of time, working at elevated heights, and working in restricted spaces while wearing PPE
- Ability to pass a drug test & extensive background screening
- Available for full time role with overtime, on-call rotations, and state-wide traveling
Advanced Skills:
- Previous experience in asbestos abatement, construction, demolition, restoration, or environmental services.
- State or federal asbestos certification or licensing.
- Knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and hazardous material handling.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and industrial remediation equipment.
