Lead Technician – Fire, Contents & Specialty Cleaning

Rainbow Restoration of Chesapeake is looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Lead Technician for our Fire, Contents & Specialty Cleaning Division.

This division handles some of the most detailed—and sometimes most sensitive—work in restoration.

Projects may include fire and smoke damage, contents cleaning, pack-outs and pack-backs, odor removal, hoarding cleanup, trauma scene cleanup, specialty cleaning, and other challenging restoration situations.

We're looking for someone who can work with their hands, lead a small crew, stay organized, and treat customers and their belongings with care and respect.

What You'll Do

As a Fire, Contents & Specialty Cleaning Lead Technician, you will:

• Lead technicians on fire, contents, and specialty cleaning projects
• Assist with fire and smoke damage cleaning
• Clean and deodorize structures, contents, and affected materials
• Perform contents pack-outs and pack-backs
• Inventory, photograph, label, and track customer contents
• Help protect and properly handle customer belongings
• Perform odor-removal and specialty cleaning services
• Assist with hoarding cleanup projects
• Assist with trauma and biohazard cleanup when properly trained and assigned
• Establish containment and follow required PPE and safety procedures
• Maintain organized work areas, vehicles, equipment, and contents storage
• Take clear photos and complete required job documentation
• Communicate project progress and concerns to the Project Manager/Division Manager
• Direct and support technicians assigned to the project
• Help ensure work is completed according to scope, company standards, and safety requirements
• Provide professional and compassionate customer service

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who:

• Has restoration, contents, cleaning, moving, construction, remediation, or similar hands-on experience
• Has experience leading a crew or is ready to step into a leadership role
• Is extremely organized and pays attention to details
• Can follow processes and documentation requirements
• Understands that a customer's belongings need to be treated with care
• Is comfortable working in environments affected by smoke, odor, heavy clutter, or significant property damage
• Can maintain professionalism in emotionally difficult situations
• Is dependable and accountable
• Communicates problems instead of hiding them
• Can give clear direction while treating coworkers respectfully
• Is comfortable using smartphones, apps, photos, and technology for documentation
• Has a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record

Restoration certifications and previous fire/contents experience are preferred, but we are also interested in candidates with strong leadership experience from related industries.

This Isn't Just a Cleaning Position

We're looking for someone who wants to lead.

A Lead Technician helps set the tone for the crew.

That means arriving prepared, understanding the assignment, keeping the team organized, protecting the customer's property, documenting the work, communicating when something isn't right, and making sure the team leaves the jobsite better than they found it.

You don't need to know everything—but you do need to be willing to learn, accept feedback, take ownership, and help the people around you improve.

Our services include water mitigation, mold remediation, fire and contents restoration, odor removal, specialty cleaning, trauma cleanup, hoarding cleanup, and other property restoration services.

Schedule

This is a full-time field position.

Because restoration work is driven by customer emergencies and project needs, occasional after-hours, weekend, or emergency work may be required.

Physical Requirements

Candidates must be able to perform physical field work, including lifting and moving boxes, contents, equipment, and materials; standing and walking for extended periods; climbing stairs; bending; reaching; and working in residential and commercial environments.

Some specialty projects may involve difficult environments. Appropriate training, PPE, and safety procedures are required.
