Job summary:

The Restoration Estimator is responsible for assessing damage to residential and commercial properties and preparing detailed, accurate, and timely estimates for restoration projects. This role is vital for securing new projects and coordinating with property owners, insurance adjusters, and the project management team to ensure a smooth and successful restoration process. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Damage assessment: Conduct thorough on-site inspections of properties affected by fire, water, storm, or mold damage to determine the extent of the loss. Document all damages through notes, measurements, and photographs.
  • Estimate creation: Utilize industry-standard estimating software, such as Xactimate or Symbility, to create comprehensive and accurate cost estimates for repairs and reconstruction.
  • Insurance coordination: Serve as the main point of contact for insurance adjusters, negotiating the scope of work and pricing to ensure fair and comprehensive coverage for the client.
  • Client communication: Act as a liaison with property owners, clearly explaining the restoration process, timelines, and estimate details in an accessible manner.
  • Project collaboration: Work closely with project managers and subcontractors to ensure a seamless transition from estimation to project execution. Address any issues that arise during the project and prepare change orders or supplements as needed.
  • Compliance: Verify that all estimates and work scopes adhere to GHRN SLA guidelines.
  • Records management: Maintain organized and detailed records of all estimates, project documentation, and client communications. 

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a construction or restoration estimator is required.
  • Proficiency with industry-standard software, particularly Xactimate and Symbility, is essential. Xactimate Level 1, 2, or 3 certification is often preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of residential and commercial construction, including building materials, techniques, and structural components.
  • A solid understanding of insurance claims processes and TPA (Third-Party Administrator) programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a focus on negotiation and customer care.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Relevant certifications from the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC), such as Water Damage Restoration Technician (WRT), are a plus. 

Physical requirements:

  • The role involves both office-based work and travel to job sites.
  • Ability to perform on-site inspections, which may include climbing ladders, crawling, and working in tight or confined spaces.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds, as needed.
